Southwest and Moore Tech set to offer free college classes to high school students

Memphis-area high school students can take advantage of free college classes at Southwest Tennessee Community College and William R. Moore College of Technology thanks to a new federal program to offer Pell grants starting in high school.

The U.S. Department of Education selected 44 schools across the country to participate in the $20 million program that will allow up to 10,000 high school students nationwide to take free college classes while they are still in high school. Both Southwest and Moore Tech submitted applications to take part in the dual enrollment program and were notified this week that they were approved.
