Know an 8th or 9th grader who could benefit from having a mentor?
STS Enterprise, a 501c3 dedicated to “developing and empowering the next generation of leaders” is accepting applications to match students with a mentor for the upcoming school year. STS has focused on programming for young men since its inception but is introducing a mentoring program for young women this year.
STS (Setting The Standard) Enterprise was founded in 2012 by Jeremy Calhoun and Alton Cryer, two young professionals who sought to move beyond simply complaining about disengagement among youth in Memphis to take action with thoughtful programming that challenges young people to “defy stereotypes, exceed expectations, and approach life with a tenacious mindset.”
Benefits and things to know about the mentoring program:
- Students will be connected to a group of young professionals from diverse backgrounds
- 10-month interactive session
- Connect with other youth from all over Memphis
- Includes some faith-based elements
- One time program fee – $50
Apply to be a mentee by August 7th.
