Looking for a way to have your entire family participate in MLK Day of Service? Why not come together to gather supplies for those in need!

The Children’s Museum of Memphis encourages you to be a part of the DREAM KIDS 2018 project on Monday, January 15th during which participants will work together to prepare kits for the homeless and high-needs schools.

  • When: January 15th (10AM-1PM)
  • Where: CMOM (2525 Central Avenue)

The first 200 volunteers to arrive will receive a t-shirt to commemorate their service work!

How to prepare:

Get a head start on gathering the necessary goods to fill the kits with! The service day will only be successfully with the generous donations from members and friends of the museum. Bring an item or two off the list of needed supplies below and drop them off in the CMOM lobby from now until January 7th.

What’s needed?

  • Plastic shoe storage boxes with lids
  • Gallon Ziploc bags
  • Pencils, pens, dry erase markers, highlighters, colored pencils, Sharpies, crayons, markers
  • Decorative notecards
  • Toothpaste, toothbrushes
  • Coloring books
  • Stuffed, washable toys
  • ChapStick
  • Puzzles
  • Small toys
  • Books
  • Scissors
  • Notebook paper, copy paper
  • Backpacks
  • Lunch boxes
  • Rulers
  • Bottled water
  • Notes of encouragement
  • Mints/gum
  • Ready-to-eat snacks
  • Small gift cards
