Know a student looking to gain tech experience or advance their knowledge in computer science? Tell them about the upcoming CodeCrew classes headed to Lester Community Center in 2018.

Since it’s beginning in 2015, CodeCrew has taught over 600 students, 90% being African American and Latino and 41% being female, to code through summer camps and after-school programs. From raising awareness about the importance of diversity in tech to serving as a resource for parents, educators, and other organizations, CodeCrew is leading the youth coding movement in Memphis.

“The kids we work with are at that vital age where they are old enough to comprehend and develop techniques, but young enough that they don’t exactly know what their career interests are,” said Audrey Jones, one of three CodeCrew founders. “The sooner they are introduced to computer science tactics, the quicker their eyes are open to new possibilities.”
